RPA Developer Lead Interview Experience - India

Process

I applied for the Lead RPA Developer job via LinkedIn in January 2021.

I was contacted and asked to deliver a full-fledged assignment with an SDD and project file, which I duly delivered within the mentioned time limit.

However, I received a rejection on August 18, 2021.

No reasons were given, so it was, of course, an unpleasant experience.

Just a piece of advice to the hiring team: please be cognizant of the effort and toil a candidate goes through to deliver your assignment, and at least be courteous enough to respond in a timely manner.

Questions

Exercise Overview

This coding exercise covers a wide range of UiPath-specific activities and can be completed in a variety of different ways. However, there are 6 requirements that must be adhered to:

  1. The coding MUST utilize the UiPath ReFramework. Any code submissions that do not utilize the ReFramework will automatically be labeled as failed submissions.
  2. All browser activities MUST use Internet Explorer.
  3. You MUST create all the files as requested in the exercise.
  4. You MUST write a short, summarized paragraph on how you created the code (PDD and/or SDD formats are encouraged but not required).
  5. You MUST create a zip file containing your completed UiPath code (including all project subdirectories) and the CSV files.
  6. You MUST name the zip file using the following format: <OrchestratorTenantName.YourFirstName.YourLastName>.zip and send it to finance.rpa.dev.interview.

Task Breakdown:

  1. Go to the list of states within the United States on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_and_territories_of_the_United_States.
  2. Extract the table containing the 50 states.
  3. Create a table called “WikiStateTable” with the following column headings and data (the column in red is a “bonus column” and counts as “extra credit”):
    • StateNum - Number assigned to each state (1-50).
    • StateCapital - The capital of each state.
    • Abbreviation - The 2-character abbreviation of each state.
    • StateName - (Bonus column) The full name of the state.
  4. Select 4 states at random from the WikiStateTable (each time this automation runs, it should select different states) and create a new table called “ZipCodeTable” containing 4 state records with the following columns:
    • StateNum - Copied from WikiStateTable.
    • StateCapital - Copied from WikiStateTable.
    • Abbreviation - Copied from WikiStateTable.
    • ZipCodeNum - Null value.
    • ZipCodes - Null value.
  5. Fill in the ZipCodeTable with the number of zip codes in the ZipCodeNum column and the actual zip codes placed in the ZipCodes column (each zip code separated by the “|” pipe symbol) for each of the 4 states.
  6. For each state in the ZipCodeTable, create an equal amount of CSV files and Excel files matching the number in the ZipCodeNum column. Each CSV file and Excel file will be named the same as the Zip Code listed in the ZipCodes column, and the data within each file will be the Zip Code number.
    • Example: If ZipCodeNum is 3 and ZipCodes is 12345|67891|13579, you will have the following results:
      • CSV Files:
        • 12345.csv (containing the number 12345).
        • 67891.csv (containing the number 67891).
        • 13579.csv (containing the number 13579).
      • XLSX Files:
        • 12345.xlsx (Cell A1 will contain 12345).
        • 67891.xlsx (Cell A1 will contain 67891).
        • 13579.xlsx (Cell A1 will contain 13579).
  7. Create a short, summarized document of how you created the code (PDD and/or SDD formats are encouraged but not required). Please include a list of the project dependencies used in the automation.
  8. Create a zip file containing:
    • UiPath code (including all subdirectories of the project).
    • All CSV files.
    • All XLSX files.
    • WikiStateTable exported to WikiStateTable.csv.
    • ZipCodeTable exported to ZipCodeTable.csv.
    • Document describing the code summary.
