Pros

Autodesk is a company that knows that the one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work. They know how to manage complexity by focusing on culture and strategy, instead of guidance and standardization.

Autodesk understands that psychological safety is a per-team metric, and thus can convert a good work environment into productive employees.

Cons

When standardization is unavoidable, they prefer in-house solutions instead of relying on industry standards, and that can quickly escalate to conflicts of interest.

Advice to Management

Autodesk is an engineering company. Not because we have a lot of engineers, but mostly because our business is to sell products and processes for engineers (and all kinds of designers and makers) to perform their work. Denying that doesn't help to become a more robust, reliable, diverse, and efficient company.
