I worked at Autodesk in Toronto for a number of years. My direct manager created a toxic work environment with childish, vindictive behavior. He had a brazen attitude towards workplace norms; comments and "jokes" directed at female colleagues made everybody present uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, upper management took no corrective action after being made aware of the manager's behavior. I ended up choosing to leave after much soul-searching.
Take signs and reports of toxic managers seriously; you cannot wish them away. You'll only end up losing much more valuable employees, and possibly even open the company up to legal liability.
