Slack chat. They like to have anonymous IMs, supposedly to eliminate bias.
Then they said if I passed this, I would be given some tests. If I passed those, I could work for them for $25 per hour for three to eight weeks before they decided if they would hire me.
I was polite, but I do not give expert advice for free. Even though $25 per hour is ridiculous, I didn't tell them that.
They did not continue with the interview process because I supposedly did not have enough experience with complex web applications. Seems like an extremely lame excuse since I have worked on dozens of those projects since 1998, and the subject never came up in the interview!
There must have been something else they didn't like about me, such as my 42 years in the business. They probably think I'm too old. But, I really have no idea.
I'm not going to let it ruin my day. It's their loss and my gain. Onward and forward to my dream job!
Even though this was not in the job description that I applied for, one question was: "Would you be willing to travel three or four times a year for an overnight of seven to 10 days?"
Will you tell us how to improve our products?
