One day after applying, I already received an invitation to Slack. They created a group for me and a few evaluators/observers.
After a great introduction, they asked me about the best date within the next few days to do a technical test. A few days later, I was sent the GitHub repo and was introduced to the technical evaluator in the Slack channel.
The tech task is to fix a WordPress plugin. Even if they claim that it's not important to know PHP or WordPress, it's definitely a BIG help. The task is very well documented, and you can code it either in a cloud IDE or in your own local IDE.
For external reasons to the process, I couldn't proceed with the technical task, and Automattic's team was very understanding and kind.
I would definitely apply again in the future if the moment is right and the opportunity arises.
