I went through the first interview, which was text-based and took place on Slack. I'm all in for async communication, but found it really weird. I had no clue whether the interviewer had read or understood everything I wrote. On multiple instances, I answered questions inside threads, and the interviewer did not reply nor added a reaction.
They did not move forward with my application but shared feedback via email, which made it clear that we had communication issues during the interview. First, they wrote that I had relevant experience working at company X, but invented a different name for the company I currently work for (it felt dismissive and even a bit xenophobic). Second, they wrongly assumed I had been working part-time for several years and marked it as a con (I've always worked full-time, but don't believe working part-time should be a con). Finally, they said I had not answered a couple of technical questions that I did answer inside Slack threads.
For everyone who wants to apply and isn't a native English speaker, I'd recommend making sure everything you write is not ambiguous in any way. Besides that, I'd avoid answering questions inside Slack threads.
How come you held X different positions in the last Y years, and what makes you stay longer?
