ICs are some of the nicest people in the world. If you're competent, you can slack off quite a bit these days. You can easily take more than 40 days "unlimited" PTO a year.

• Lack of long-term vision.
• Looking good for investors is the goal; everything else is shoved aside.
• Toxic leadership.
• Dishonesty has become the norm (no salary transparency, decisions made behind closed doors setting arbitrary goals for everyone else).
• You're welcome to provide feedback, but the leadership isn't going to listen to it.

The people in top-level management are responsible for keeping the lights on. They're also responsible for Automattic falling behind and for a lack of innovation due to a lack of long-term thinking. Stop running the company as a top-down dictatorship and create space for innovation.
