Pros: Great work/life balance, especially considering the salary. I've seen lately a great culture around volunteering and giving back to the community spinning up in my org. Internally, employees and teammates are recognized and rewarded for organizing/spearheading culture- and community-building activities within the organization, such as game nights and bagel breakfasts. I'm glad there is a budget to improve workplace morale, because I'm certainly not getting morale from the actual work I'm doing here.

Cons: Don't expect to receive any increase in compensation for an internal transfer, even if you go through a full interview process with another team, unless your title is changing. I've seen complete wastes of space stay on my team for multiple years, contributing absolutely nothing to our product or even so much as attending weekly stand-ups, and somehow they are kept on the payroll. It's fishy to say the least. Let's be honest, BofA / Merrill as a consumer product is inferior to its competitors, e.g., Capital One. I can't wait to close all my Bofa / Merrill accounts once I am out of here.

Cons: Job no longer stable. Warren Buffett starts to sell its stock. Internal tension and politics.

Pros: slower pace. You can still do engineering while limiting how much time you spend in meetings.

Cons: Too much bureaucracy and too many manual processes.
