Pros

Great people. Considerate colleagues and managers.

Cons

Some projects require the use of internal tech that might not help your CV.

The culture is very suspicious of remote working. They describe themselves as an “office-first company”. They like to say they’re open to more flexibility with remote work, but if they do, it’ll be against the instincts of upper management.

The amount of red tape around releases has gotten far beyond out of control. There is a possibly unresolvable conflict between their stated desire to be a Lean Agile tech operation and the paperwork requirements to manage software and hardware changes.

Continuous Deployment is not achievable in the existing structure.

Advice to Management

Remote working has coincided with fantastic performance over the 2 years of COVID. Embrace this.

Look into and take seriously the potential benefits of the philosophy of Continuous Deployment.
