Pros

Decent benefits (corporate amenities, health benefits).

The CEO (Hubert) is a strong leader.

Well-known brand.

The employees are largely personable.

Cons

IT is largely outsourced (though it's getting better).

Many business teams build their own IT independent of any processes.

Processes are set in place, but there are no repercussions if they are not followed.

Most of the company operates on Access databases or Excel and are unwilling to stay up with current technologies.

No data governance.

Many leaders are disconnected from the work being performed.

Limited incentive for IT talent to work for Best Buy.

Advice to Management

Set up a data governance process and hold people accountable if they do not follow it.

Either focus on keeping the talent or start creating incentives to attract new talent.

Create initiatives that enable employees to learn new technologies and market them.

Hold business teams to following the IT strategy.
