Cons: Flat orgs sound cool, but in reality, it just means way more disorganization because there are not enough middle managers or team leads to disseminate information clearly. This means it's not a surprise to see duplicate work. There's very little upward mobility. I had colleagues who stayed in the same role for 3+ years. The business side and engineering side are not aligned. The business side managers care more about hitting short-term quarterly goals, which means patchy development and the tech stack being messy.
