First, they asked questions about my background. Then, I received a basic coding problem that required me to print all repeating characters in the form "'character' # 'count'". Next was a problem about data structures, focusing on time complexity and how to modify a data structure for better performance.
Questions
What data structure will you use to store all the names of clients? If one name is associated with different people, then I have to store the number of people who share the same name.

Pros: Friendly environment
No restrictions
Free food (lots and lots of junk and organic food)
Better than industry-kind of pay (not top, though)
Cons: Keeps you busy (Get a lot of work done from you in return for good pay).
You need to know how to bull-shit, even if you do not know how to do something.
Lot of legacy code... not worth learning it for professional growth.

Great company to work for, but different departments have varying experiences

Pros: The company as a whole cares about its employees. Benefits are top-notch. Summer parties are the best, and the company has excellent core values.
Being a private company has a huge advantage, as the company can invest in its people through education and other perks that are rarely found elsewhere. They also promote volunteer work, being green, and focusing on your health.
Cons: Certain groups in the company can have a really bad working environment or a really awesome working environment. It is hit or miss, which tends to depend on who is managing the group.
The company also works with really old technologies, which is not transferable to other companies.
The development environment, or lack of one, is really old and not efficient.

Pros: 1. Good holiday and paid day off.
2. Benefits (salary, insurance, 401k) and work hours are generally good.
3. Nice office with free drinks and snacks.
Cons: 1. Most of the time, I'm doing maintenance work rather than working on something new and exciting.
2. High taxes and living expenses in New York City.
3. Nonsensical recruiting.
4. Good training for non-programmers, but it's too long and useless if you already have a lot of programming experience.
