Pros: Great salary and vacation time. A 12-week training program brings your coding up to speed. Good snacks and beverages. I got to move to NYC and be able to afford it.

Cons: Most technology is relatively old. A lot of work is maintenance of code written 10, 15, 20 years ago. Not much room for innovation, especially when all projects are on extremely tight deadlines.

Pros: Very good compensation, good health insurance plan, free snacks and soda, and breakfast.

Cons: 1. There's no career growth at all. There's too much political stuff in this company. I've seen many people who don't contribute more than others on the team but get promoted to team leader or manager, just because they have good personal relationships with their boss. 2. It's not very professional in terms of software development. Bloomberg hires a lot of non-professionals to do the software development. Many people never or seldom developed software before they joined this company. So, there's a lot of poor code waiting for you to maintain and fix.

Pros: Line on the resume. Good pay, but if you count all the hours you really work, it's less impressive. The building is really cool: multicolored glass, transparency, lots of open space. Events scheduled for interns. Flexible work hours.

Cons: Work is not really challenging. Lots of repetitive work. Need to fill out programmer's notes every day. If you're a programmer and you hope to learn more about finance by working here, it won't happen. If you're an intern, you cannot bill more than 40 hours per week. Almost everybody works more, but you won't be paid for overtime. Free food and drinks are always there, but if you're health-conscious, most of it won't be of much benefit to you.
