Process

I was contacted by a recruiter who managed the process from beginning to end. There were two phone screens:

  • One focused on general technical questions based on algorithms and data structures.
  • The other focused entirely on machine learning fundamentals.

The phone screens were conducted within a two-week gap, according to the dates I made available. The interviewers were very nice and helpful.

After I was selected for the phone screen, I had to travel to NYC for an onsite interview. There were five onsite interviews, with interviewers always coming in pairs. One interview was conducted by the hiring manager and the team leader. There was also a full HR interview.

All other interviews were conducted by team members or team members from the data science team with whom the machine learning engineers closely work. All of them were very nice and provided direction when I was going away from the right solutions.

Right after the interview, the recruiter called me to let me know I had an offer. Within two days, I received the final offer via email. The entire process was very smooth and, I should say, awesome.

Questions

Apart from the rounds with the hiring manager and HR, all other rounds focused on data structure and algorithm problems from LeetCode (Medium and Hard).

If someone is thoroughly prepared, they should be able to answer most of the questions.

The other types of questions were on machine learning fundamentals, models, and open-ended questions of machine learning system design.

The manager and HR also asked behavioral questions related to teamwork, working in an agile methodology, and how to tackle difficult challenges.

Was this helpful?
