Software Engineer Interview Experience - Canada

Process

I was contacted by HR for a technical phone interview. They missed our first appointment, but it was rescheduled for a second interview in a couple of weeks.

The interview itself was easy. However, the interviewer (I checked on LinkedIn) seemed confused. He started with a single linked list and asked me to find a loop. I provided an approach. Then, he began emphasizing a T-shaped link (?!). In such a case, how can the list be singly linked? Wouldn't the linked list become a tree?

I was also aghast at how they matched the interviewer with the interviewee. I have a PhD, but the interviewer seemed to have a bachelor's degree. While qualifications don't solely matter, there is a significant gap between the thinking of an undergraduate and a graduate (no offense intended).

I was not selected for further stages. Irrespective of the outcome, I would have been happier if I had been interviewed by a more competent person. I was interested in the job as it matched my skillsets, and I felt I had a lot to contribute to the organization. However, such an experience makes one have second thoughts.
