I applied to the Bloomberg website in late July and received my first email for a phone screen in late August. Bloomberg does not recruit at my school, so I did not have any on-campus interviews.
My phone screen was relatively easy (see Question #1).
My on-site interviews consisted of four rounds, each around an hour long with 15-minute breaks in between. I've heard that typically every candidate gets two rounds, and if escorted out after those two, they likely won't receive an offer. I completed two technical rounds, one with HR, and one with a manager.
The interview experience was very positive, especially the on-site portion and Discover Day. Bloomberg covers travel and accommodation, flying candidates out and putting them up in a nice hotel. Transportation from the airport to the hotel is provided via a black car. You also get a tour of the office building, which is quite impressive.
At the end of the process, you receive a reimbursement card for $100. However, in my experience, this amount was not sufficient to cover all expenses.
Discover Day offers an opportunity to interact with other potential interns and full-time employees (all of whom have received offers). You can also speak with Engineers and casually chat with representatives from several teams. I believe this day is intended for preliminary team matching.
How can we multiply two square matrices together? Can we improve the algorithm if we know they're sparsely filled?
