Process
The process was pleasant, easy, and streamlined.
I applied online through my university's job portal and received an email to schedule a phone interview within a week. A few days after the phone interview, I got an email to schedule an on-site interview in NYC.
The company paid for flights to and from NYC, hotel reservations, and car service from the airport to the hotel.
Upon arriving at Bloomberg at 8:30 AM on the day of my interview, we were served breakfast and given a tour of the building before interviews began.
My interviews consisted of:
- Two 1-hour technical interviews, each with two interviewers. These focused primarily on selecting and combining the correct algorithms and data structures to solve problems.
- A third interview with a manager in R&D, which was also technical but emphasized problem-solving thought processes and potentially personality.
- A final 15-minute informational interview with someone from HR.
Questions
Given a large collection of characters and a dictionary, find an efficient algorithm to return the 10 longest words you can form using the characters in the collection.

Normal trappings of internal politics expected of large organizations.
