I have worked in the IT department in three big banks. The engineers were pushed hard by business there. But Bloomberg R&D has a lot more power. It can decide its own schedule. Bloomberg is more like a technology company.
Its IT department uses a lot of built-in-house technology. Its technology is not cutting edge. Some skills you learn here may not be very useful out of Bloomberg.
