Very difficult to move up for SOME
Decent work/life balance. Good pay, awesome benefits, nice colleagues, beautiful office space.
If you’re there long enough, like I was, it dawns on you that different groups of people hold to different standards based on what university they graduated from, but also, more importantly, what their gender and ethnicity is. Basically, if you come in from industry as a senior white male, it doesn’t seem to matter what your contributions are; they will always find excuses that start to border on the ridiculous to keep postponing advancement. Meanwhile, others without these traits seem to rise quickly and more efficiently. It was still overall the best job I had, but it was incredibly disappointing to be held back because of characteristics I can’t change.
Meritocracy is more important than wokeness.
