It's relatively easy to get lots of ownership as a software engineer at Bloomberg, which can be great for career growth. Management treats employees well, and the company's revenue continues to grow.
Work-life balance ranges from good to great, aside from a few understaffed teams. Some of the C++ developers are among the best in the industry.
The company donates 95% of its profits to charity. After a few years here, software engineers commonly get interview requests (and sometimes job offers) from all FAAMG companies and top trading firms. And some people leave those companies for Bloomberg.
Compensation lags behind that of many other companies that hire software engineers, especially for those with more than ~3 years of experience.
