Pros
  • Amazing work/life balance.
  • Great friendly people and work environment. Everyone is really nice, and there is no backstabbing like you hear about in other companies.
  • Their further education program is absolutely AMAZING! They cover all course study related to engineering and sciences. This makes Boeing worth it!
Cons
  • No incentive to become a manager. They get shafted. All benefits are lost.
  • It doesn't matter how you perform; you are not necessarily compensated for a job well done.
  • There is dead weight in the company that are immune to layoffs while people who are great workers end up with the pink slip because they are new. Not a really fair system.
Advice to Management

We need to provide a better environment where employees are not "slaughtered" for bringing bad news or issues.

For example, analysis showed that there was NO way we would be able to meet the 787 schedule. Many engineers approached senior managers, but senior managers did not listen, and the engineers who brought the bad news were reprimanded. Managers would say, "That's not a 'find a way' attitude."

Also, provide more incentives to become a manager. I continue to hear from managers that they don't know why they became a manager at Boeing. They were paid more as an engineer.
