Pros

I definitely had the opportunity (not really a choice) to learn a lot about the overall satellite AI&T life cycle. This prepared me for a big move in Aerospace, particularly Space.

I was able to take on a huge role with a lot of visibility.

Cons
  • Extreme pressure from program, management, etc., with non-stop pushing towards schedule and often unrealistic goals.
  • Some of the people are difficult to work with, stuck in old ways of doing things, and some are manipulative.
  • Expect to work a lot of overtime and weekends, and be guilt-tripped into doing so.
  • Management does not care about your well-being. I developed and currently still deal with an anxiety disorder, alopecia, and insomnia from the months of constant stress; I am currently seeing multiple physicians to help.
  • Hi-Bay was the most volatile, difficult, and aggressive environment to work in.
Advice to Management

Be more realistic with the capabilities of your workforce and give them the time off they need. Stop trying to present to your stakeholders unrealistic goals and then proceed to burn out your employees. Look out for your employees and hear their concerns.
