Constantly changing priorities. Young college graduates are not coached or challenged, and attrition is high for college graduates. There is lots of paperwork and red tape, and management is unaware of employee satisfaction. There are union issues with upward mobility for younger employees seeking growth.
Listen to the engineers prior to the initiation of a project and don't make bad decisions that affect the entire company. Make realistic commitments to customers; don't be so schedule-driven. Management also needs to provide new college graduates and new hires with a rotational program so they can learn various skills and get the larger picture of working at a huge company like Boeing.
Constantly shifting priorities and minimizing redundancies in processes can certainly boost employee morale. Massive layoffs can be avoided through upfront, thorough, and detailed resource planning.
