Pros

Opportunities to attend college, and Boeing helps pay for your schooling all the way through. Medical is very reasonable in comparison to other companies. Advancement for shop/hourly employees is always available, providing you gain education outside and within the company. Diversity among the people you work with.

Cons

Miscommunication between shop/hourly and management/hourly employees.

Union-to-company misunderstandings or hot-debated topics.

It really depends on your position and the program you work on.

Advice to Management

I would advise senior management to create a more open atmosphere where tension is less between hourly and salary, dayshift and 2nd & 3rd shifts, union and non-union.

I would like to see more respect on certain programs (especially the 787) for shop employees and all their efforts working an experimental line. It can be extremely stressful when a definitive line of communication and application does not exist.
