Lots of overtime, great wages, insane benefits, and lots of opportunity for growth.
It's an industry job; don't expect a lot of smiling faces. And because it's union, don't expect people to really work for their money.
I don't even know where to start, but I would suggest managing your groups as if the FAA is watching only you. Quit going for numbers and start working on quality; it will make everyone's life easier.
