Nobody seems to have much fun doing their job or find their job very satisfying. Most fixate on pay, promotions, when they can retire, and donuts and other free food. The tools and processes tend to be old and outdated, especially in the commercial division. The whole place has an old-school, traditional, and aging industrial company vibe to it.
I'm having infinitely more fun since I left for a more progressive company in medical devices with modern tools and people with open-minded attitudes.
Move on from the old 'command and control' paradigm.
Ask people what would make their job more enjoyable and what would motivate them to be their best.
Be open to weird ideas and misfits that aren't 'yes' people.
