Pros
  • Lots of freedom in development.
  • New technologies.
  • You can gain valuable tech skills.
  • Skilled engineers and, in general, you can meet a lot of interesting and good people.
Cons

Poor management skills. The manager is always right and would never admit a mistake.

Cronyism: If you are friends with your manager, you can go far. Otherwise, you'll stay in your position forever.

Non-existent HR practices. The best support you can receive is to talk to your manager.

Even if you notice unfairness, there's absolutely nothing you will be able to do. If you leave a bad review on an internal poll, it will just be ignored, or you'll receive a reply explaining why you're wrong.

Advice to Management

Learn to admit mistakes. Learn good managerial practices. Promote meritocracy. People should get promoted independently of whether you personally like the person or not.
