I applied with my CV and received a HackerRank coding challenge invitation.

It included two coding questions: one SQL and one streaming problem. The SQL question was easy, and the streaming question wasn't difficult, but I wasn't able to finish it within the given time limit (62 minutes).

I believe I would have needed a few more minutes to deliver a complete solution. Unfortunately, these coding challenges often feel unfair. Just because I couldn't provide a solution within the allotted time, does that mean I am incapable of being hired?

I believe companies lose many good candidates by filtering them this way.

I also think it's possible for someone to easily pass this filter by asking the questions to ChatGPT. Of course, there would be other technical interviews, but if the person is minimally competent both technically and personally, they could still get the offer.

This is a typical HackerRank challenge.
