I have been with the company three months and have been so impressed with the people and company culture. Everyone is united behind the company goal of helping families. I have not experienced any big egos or politics, just a bunch of open, friendly people who will help in any way they can.
I have never worked for a company that cares more about the well-being of its employees. You are encouraged to take a mental health day when you are burned out. There is weekly meditation and yoga. There are a variety of book clubs and other social groups. It is also completely normalized to say you need to take some time to care for your family.
What I have observed is that the company has made such a safe, friendly environment that people are willing to be open and vulnerable in a way I have not seen before, and by extension teams have developed a strong sense of trust and honest communication.
The company is growing quickly, so it is sometimes hard to keep track of all the new faces.
Working with a recruiter, I interviewed with Brightline in May 2022, seeking a role as a fullstack software engineer working on their Rails-based stack. I had an initial technical interview with a Staff Software Engineer. The coding exercise was fun.
Applied online and took almost a month to hear back. Got through a screening without problems. Tried scheduling follow-up interviews, but communication was terrible and I eventually gave up.
