Pros

Many good people doing individual contributor roles.

Cons

Operation management teams have zero clue about being people managers.

Managers are not graded on people skills at all.

Most managers wouldn't even say hi if they passed you in the hallway.

If you weren't sitting in your office, it was assumed you weren't working.

Not easy when you have hours of meetings a day in conference rooms.

Advice to Management

Look into bringing in new processes to guide and measure managers on how to relate to employees, inspire and lead them.

Try to focus on some of the positives.
