Broadcom has kept many of its product groups on the cutting edge, releasing increasingly advanced ICs which outpace the competition. This is in its areas of strength. Overall, there seems a reasonable balance of leadership with autonomy.
When BRCM exited the mobile processor market, they seem to have done a good job transferring people to other positions. Many of the ones who did get laid off have trickled back in in new roles over the last 12 months.
If you are used to smaller groups, you will be lost.
The ICs are so complex an army must work on them.
Cross-functional support can be improved significantly.
The Avago acquisition is a cloud on the horizon. For engineers, it's not too gloomy, but support roles could get hit hard.
The overall interview process was good, but they are very bad at communication. After the interview, they don't have any updates and also they don't respond to your follow-up emails. Very bad experience.
I spent most of my time in the interview discussing my presentation and research. As for questions, they ranged from LDO design to general analog design questions, like op-amps and so on. I met with a team of 10 designers.
1. First director interview 2. HR interview 3. Lunch interview with two managers 4. Senior engineer technical question 5. Senior engineer technical question The most difficult part is having lunch with two managers. You have to answer their question
