Pros

Broadcom Inc., before the merger with Arago, used to be an employee-friendly company. The job was relatively stable. The company's benefits and compensation were competitive in the industry. Many of the senior engineers had been working at Broadcom for more than 12 years. The company was good for the experienced, middle-aged engineer who needed to raise a family and sought a stable income.

Cons

Unfortunately, after merging with Avago, the company has been converted to a cost-down oriented company where employees are disposable. The new president, Hock Tan, is a typical businessman who is not interested in investing in any risky high-tech R&D. He is good at pleasing the stockholders and investors. In the short term, Broadcom's stock will keep rising. In the long run, it will become a manufacturing company, similar to Foxconn.
