There is a lot of room for growth and development. There are also a lot of different groups and job opportunities within Broadcom, which allow people to try and expand their expertise in different areas.
There are not a lot of cons. However, it is not a 9am-5pm type of job. It requires a lot of hours and dedication.
The best advice I can give is to increase opportunities for technical growth by offering on-site classes and sessions that would allow engineers to increase their expertise in different areas.
