ByteDance Work Experiences

Being proficient in Chinese is not optional

Data Engineer • Current Employee

Singapore, Singapore

February 14, 2025

Pros: Good compensation, free food and snacks.

Cons: All requests and meetings are conducted in Chinese. Requests are all equally urgent, where leaders do not seem to help draw this line; if all are urgent, none are. There is a severe lack of manpower, where people continuously quit. Only seniors seem to be hired, and these people rarely contributed to the actual work but only on the "management" side. There is lower than average job security as compared to other companies in the tech industry.
