Front End Engineer Interview Experience - Switzerland

Process

A recruiter contacted me a few times over the last few years, and I finally decided to give it a chance.

Here's a breakdown of the process:

  1. Call with a recruiter: You might be asked JavaScript/Web questions, such as "explain X" or "what a function does."
  2. Call with an engineer: This typically involves one easy task that you'll be asked to implement step by step.
  3. Two rounds of technical interviews: These will feature more difficult questions.

The last part is where things went wrong for me. I had two rounds scheduled, but since I live in the EU, they were back-to-back interviews after midnight. I was definitely sleepy, even though I'd had some coffee and Red Bulls. The second interview was a disaster because I couldn't sleep properly the previous night due to the high caffeine intake.

I did try to provide my preferred times, which were early in the morning, but I was given only midnight options. I don't understand why they expect a person to perform well enough to pass a technical interview in the middle of the night.
