Software Engineer Interview Experience - Sydney, Australia

Process

I applied online and interviewed with Canva in July 2020.

HR was very friendly and encouraging to communicate. He scheduled the first round for me the following week. I had my first Zoom coding interview with Canva, which went very well. The interview experience was excellent, and the engineer was able to guide me through his questions.

After that, I waited a week to get feedback that I had crossed the first round. The final interview rounds were scheduled for me. However, I didn't attend the final rounds as I had offers on hand by that time.

Overall, a good interview experience. The people are nice. I would say, if you want to be technically prepared, LeetCode medium-level problems should be your area of focus. The questions will be based on what Canva does/did in past projects, but the underlying approach will come from a medium LeetCode problem. Brush up on DP, HashMaps, Recursions, Arrays, etc.

Questions

LC Medium problems can't really be described concretely. The problems are often catered to what Canva engineers have worked on or seen in the past within the company.
