Senior Java Developer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, Karnataka

July 1, 2024
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process involved two rounds.

The first round, lasting approximately 2 hours, included coding questions, a code snippet to guess the output, and one system design question.

The second round was a client interview where the interviewer posed two coding questions, some theoretical core Java questions, and basic Spring Boot concepts.

Both interviewers from the first and second rounds were polite and professional. The technical interview experience was quite good.

However, the Capgemini HR team's performance was disappointing. After the second technical round, I followed up for feedback. The interview organizer informed me that I had been selected and to await an HR call. After a few days, I called again. The organizer requested my candidature details and reconfirmed my selection, stating the HR team was likely preparing the offer letter.

I took the second technical round on July 12th. Since then, I contacted the Capgemini interview organizer multiple times for a status update. Each time, she confirmed my interview clearance and advised me to wait for the HR call.

On July 29th, I received an email from Capgemini HR stating I had not cleared the second technical round. This was highly unprofessional. For 17 days, I received conflicting information, including that they were awaiting client approval on the package and working on the offer letter, only to be presented with a new narrative.

My advice to all aspiring candidates: avoid Capgemini interviews. Regardless of your performance or their reassurances, if they find a candidate willing to accept a lower salary, they will reject you. Instead of stating you were over budget, they will send an email claiming you did not clear the interview. Good luck.
