Senior Java Developer Interview Experience - Toronto, Ontario

Process

A recruiter reached out and was very professional and friendly. However, the Engineering Manager (EM) had a habit of calling at random times, expecting instant answers without prior notice. They mentioned that candidates should always be prepared, which I believe is not an effective way to conduct interviews.

I experienced multiple unscheduled calls—once I received a rejection email, and then another call came unexpectedly. When I asked to schedule for the next day, I was ready, but the call never happened.

I think it's important for candidates to at least be informed beforehand about interview timings, so they can be prepared and in an appropriate environment. Not every candidate is a '10x developer,' and respectful scheduling goes a long way toward professionalism.
