Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, India

Process

This was the most unprofessional group of people.

I received a call from a recruiter who found my profile on a job portal, where all my details, including my current and expected CTC, were already mentioned. She asked for all the details again and scheduled an interview.

On the day of the interview, there was a large queue of applicants but no proper arrangement. There was no water, no food, no breaks, and no proper scheduling. People were called randomly for interviews. Some candidates had already completed two or three rounds, while others were still waiting for their first round. If anyone wanted to go out for water, tea, or any other break, they risked missing their turn. Some interviewers did not show up, so a few interviews were arranged over the phone. It was a total mess and took over eight hours.

I cleared all my rounds and discussed my current and expected CTC with HR. I also filled out some forms with all my details, again including CTC information. I was told I would receive my offer letter within a week.

After waiting for a week, I decided to follow up. The HR then asked about my current CTC details again and informed me that my current CTC was already higher than what they planned to offer me! It was surprising that they did not know my current CTC after asking for it at least three times verbally and twice in writing.

They then stated they could offer me a maximum 10% hike on my current CTC, which would be in the form of variables. According to their salary structure, my take-home salary would have been even less than my current salary.

I declined the offer.

Approximately 1.5 months later, I received a call from one of their HR representatives asking when I was going to join. I explained that I never received an offer letter and was not interested. She insisted that I would receive my offer letter the next day and that they wanted me to join.

This has been the worst interview experience and the most unprofessional group of people I have encountered in my professional career.

P.S. The individuals who conducted my technical interviews were pleasant, and I have no complaints about them.
