Pros

Opportunity to work on a large project with globally renowned companies.

Opportunity to work with the latest technologies like Docker, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Elastic Search, etc.

Cons

For a consultancy that focuses on delivering software solutions to clients, engineers are truly undervalued. The pay is bad.

Graduate salary starts at around £26k for all regions (including London) and pay rises are usually 3%-7% (anything higher than 6% is pretty lucky).

There is so much demand for Software Engineers in the market, yet Capgemini keeps their salaries low, even for experienced developers. It is well below market rate, which is causing all the good engineers to leave.

After leaving Capgemini, I increased my salary by 200% in 2 years; I wouldn't get anything close if I were to stay. Engineers are in high demand right now; you are worth more.

Advice to Management

Value your engineers more. You are an IT consultancy firm that delivers technology solutions to clients, yet your delivery team is at the very bottom of the payroll. Capgemini Consultants (CC) and Management Consultants are paid a lot more than engineers, even at graduate level. You will just be left with bad developers.
