Pros

The first two years have a great pay increase structure.

They gave real inflation raises (between 2-8% in the last few years).

They provide training before contract.

My contract work gives me a great work-life balance, but other new hires were placed in jobs that required a lot more work and overtime.

Cons
  • They let you go if there is no contract.

  • They may try to place you in a position that you do not have the experience for, and expect you to swim. They attempted to place me as an expert in a certain technology with barely 1 week's worth of training in that software. The contracting company did not seem happy. The next placement was more appropriate.

  • I wish there was more PTO for a software engineer.

Advice to Management

Improve communication between teams. Upper management clearly wanted to gather metrics about their engineering employees, but the email communications were sometimes contradictory. There was a series of assessments recently that did not have content that was in the study guides. I have heard nothing after these assessments in the months since.
