If you are a fresher, you should have a bag full of luck to be tagged to a project.
Most of my batch-mates were on the bench for more than a year.
Hire the resource only if you really need them. Please don't waste our careers by simply keeping us on the bench. We came to the industry with a lot of dreams and goals, but Capgemini ruined two years of our lives.
