WFH is very lenient and not strict.
They laid off a couple of resources because of “redundancy” with no full basis. They just feel that they need to let go of them and chose other countries as a resource pool.
Have some decency and understand that these are human beings. The “Get the future you want” slogan isn’t true to its core.
