Pros

Good benefits, flexible work options, and a great severance package.

Cons

A highly political environment where managers are like clan leaders. It's a very hierarchical environment.

COF wants to portray itself as a cutting-edge technology company, while its core business is financial services. Everyone is after the "coolness factor" and just hops on buzzwords like cloud, big data, DevOps, etc. There is too much talk and not enough output.

Changes are too frequent, and layoffs occur at unexpected times, even when you think the company is doing great. Recently, management thinks software programming is the only great job and wants all IT folks to do coding work.

Advice to Management

Employee objectives have been very fluid and ad-hoc, and performance appraisal is a joke. This lets loud managers and their clansmen walk away with most of the goodies. Please invest in good people, value their contributions, and help them grow.
