Pros

Decent salary, 7.5% 401k match, and perks that aren't that bad when compared with other traditional organizations like Capital One.

Cons

Capital One preaches "one" and practices "one". You will be able to see this across all layers of management. Every year, when I speak to my directors, they speak about promotion opportunities and expect you to make a difference in the organization, etc., etc. Finally, they award promotion to non-technical talents because there is no growth path for technical people who want to stay technical.

As you see upwards in the management hierarchy, all of them are from a non-technical background. Hence, they don't really like technical talents, except for getting work done through them.

Only 1/10 will be technical talent, and there will be a huge crowd of people you will deal with every day and get frustrated. You might start feeling very dumb over a period of time because the environment is not fostering enough.

Advice to Management

Anyways, the leadership is a piece of crap, so there's nothing much to advise. If I believe correctly, it is this incapable leadership which is the root cause for all the issues out there.
