My profile: 4 years of experience in various AWS tools, Python, Spark, SQL, and data engineering works.
Applied through Glassdoor and LinkedIn simultaneously.
Subsequently, I got a call from the recruiter, and the first round of interviews was scheduled. I got through it.
Second round (with Senior Data Engineer/Team Lead): I got through it.
Third round: with Manager.
Then, I got a call from the recruiter stating that someone else was hired for the position they were hiring for.
The recruiter, at the same time, gave me a choice whether I wanted to go for the Data Platform Engineer - II job, as they found my profile and skills to be relevant to that role as well.
I went for it, and another managerial round happened. Within 15 minutes, I was told that they wanted an expert guy. The role was Dev Ops + Ops in Data Engineering.
However, if you look at the job descriptions for Data Engineer-II and Data Platform Engineer-II, they are almost the same.
Finally, I received the generic reply: "proceeding with another candidate" or so... End!
After that, the recruiter also didn't pick up the call.
Four rounds meant approximately 4 hours of my precious time were completely wasted. Pathetic experience!
Advice to Chegg: Get your hiring team and managers in sync. Also, try to respect the time of candidates. It's not a playground.
