Seems like a good mission.
The team I was on was not welcoming to having a woman engineer. The challenges I faced with my engineering manager and other engineers were so horrible I left the company in 6 months.
I was lucky to have found an amazing company to work for shortly after with the best team. As a woman engineer, I did not feel welcome. I faced major challenges from my male co-workers who all dismissed me, made me feel unwelcome and depressed... so much so I quit.
This was about 3 years ago. Looking back, I almost gave up my career as an engineer. Chegg was my first engineering job. Three years later at my current company, I have had the most supportive team, best managers, and feel included.
Please make sure to have a diverse team: diverse genders, races, and ages.
Train your engineering managers to be managers. Train your engineering managers to care with empathy.
I interviewed at Chegg. I applied online and was invited to an online coding test a few weeks later. The test was mostly multiple choice and wasn't too difficult. I was not invited to a next round.
The first call was a tech screen with a hiring manager. It involved a few algorithm questions using either JavaScript or TypeScript. Afterward, I moved on to an onsite interview which consisted of four rounds: * Architecture * Algorithm * De
I had an introduction screen with a recruiter and then with a lead engineer. Next, I had a technical screen with a senior engineer. Overall, I think the process was fine, but the technical screen didn't really let me demonstrate my skillset.
