Process
I spoke with a recruiter and described what I was interested in.
She connected me with another recruiter, with whom I had a really great conversation and was excited about moving forwards.
That recruiter never followed up, so I went back to the original.
She connected me with a third, regarding an engineering manager role that I had already explicitly stated I wasn't looking for.
Eventually, in my search for a staff engineer interview, I ended up in an interview for a senior role, where I was able to get a good understanding of the difference.
I received a call back a few days later, explaining that I did not have enough experience in an area that I didn't feel I was interviewed on.

Nice RSU Incentives
Cons: Lots of "paperwork" involved in shipping code and deploying it to production (change requests), and too many approvals required.
Many hires during the pandemic were not the best quality given the grade they were hired at.
Performance management getting too detailed and involved. It did not seem to be effective at addressing the above point.
Political divides creating tension and driving a wedge between coworkers. These may also be affecting promotion and hiring decisions.
Towards the end, I spent more time answering questions from engineers 2 levels above than getting my own work done.

• Opportunities to own end-to-end initiatives across backend, frontend, and data pipelines.
• Collaborative peers and cross-functional learning (engineering, product, finance, supply chain).
• Strong culture of accountability and measurable impact on business outcomes.
• Leadership encourages innovation and welcomes new ideas.
Cons: • Prioritization can shift quickly, leading to rework and context switching.
• Some legacy systems still create inefficiencies despite modernization efforts.
• Cross-team communication occasionally slows down decision-making.
• Career progression paths could be more transparent.
• Workload can be uneven during major launches.

Great place to learn

Pros: Small teams, lots of room for growth. The team I was on was overhauling the system they were in charge of, so I got to use some very cool new tech. Everyone is really nice.
Cons: I think your experience depends on which team you are assigned to. Leadership idolizes Amazon (for me, this is a con, but I guess it depends on who you ask).
