Software Engineer (Internship) Interview Experience

February 1, 2018
Neutral ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Originally interviewed for Software Engineering, but after expressing more interest in Data Science/Analytics, the recruiter put me in touch with the Data Science team and Growth team.

Round 1: General background check phone screening

Round 2: General technical coding assessment

Unofficial Round 3: Talked with the recruiter on campus for a coffee chat

Official Round 3: Interview with managers of the DS & Growth teams.

Made it to the last round but didn't get an offer. The process took approximately 3 weeks.

Questions

Technical Screening:

Given a list of transactions between a group of friends (which can involve one person paying multiple people, multiple people paying one person, and vice versa), calculate and print out how much money individuals owe one another. (Essentially, like Venmo.)

Growth Team Manager Interview:

Look at the current Coinbase signup homepage. What are the different ways we can track how users remain or drop off during the signup process?

What are some of your suggestions for making the signup process better?

What is A/B testing?

Data Science Manager Interview:

What is your background in Machine Learning?
