Senior Data Engineer • Former Employee
Pros: No pros at all, only cons.
Cons: • Excessive pressure on vendor/contractor employees, with unrealistic expectations and constant micromanagement.
• Managers at Comcast often communicate rudely with vendor staff, even during meetings, and do not maintain a respectful tone.
• Story point estimations are frequently questioned. Even when logical justifications are given for higher estimates (e.g., 4 points), they are often forced to be reduced (e.g., to 2 points), resulting in overwork, stress, and mental health challenges.
• Clear favoritism is shown toward full-time Comcast employees, who are treated with respect, while vendor employees are often blamed and spoken to unprofessionally.
• Extreme micromanagement, including tracking daily GitHub commits and PRs, with pressure to commit daily. Lack of such activity leads to public criticism in meetings.
• Individual contributors are frequently singled out and questioned aggressively, even when they are right.
• Work hours are excessively monitored, with management often questioning why certain tasks take more time than they estimate — down to the hour or even half hour.
• No proper onboarding or knowledge transfer is provided. Employees are expected to be fully productive from Day 1 without support or context.
• On-call duties are extremely demanding — 24/7 availability is expected, even on weekends or during personal emergencies. Missing a call often leads to escalations.
• Even in the event of a family tragedy, employees were expected to stay on-call and work overnight to meet unrealistic deadlines.
• There is little to no help from managers when employees seek clarification. Instead, they are redirected or dismissed altogether.
• Employees serving their notice period are still expected to attend every call, regardless of whether their presence is needed, and non-attendance is escalated unnecessarily.
• Sick leaves are questioned during deadline periods, with pressure to deliver everything immediately upon return.
• There is a persistent culture of blame, lack of empathy, and no work-life balance.
• No acknowledgment or appreciation is given to employees who resign — farewell or thank-you emails are ignored by the management.
• Highly toxic work culture driven by poor leadership and micromanagement.
